When Can You Leave Your Child At The Day Care
If you’re a working mom, and your organization does not allow you a very long maternity leave, you’d be desperate to know when you can start day care for your infant, at the earliest.
And it’s definitely better that you begin finding a day care for your infant as soon as possible, because most day care centers will not accept babies below six weeks. And that six week minimum requirement applies when you have a full term infant, because premature babies require extra attention and so most day cares may not accept premature babies even till ten weeks.
There’s absolutely no need to panic, because there are some day care centers which may be open to accepting infants younger than six weeks, or alternatively you can always hire a nanny till your infant is old enough to be left at the daycare center.
Also, there are some day care centers which will accept infants even after two weeks, but since such a young infant requires more care and attention the day care center may charge some real high fees. When your infant is just about two weeks, even you may not feel like leaving your child with a daycare center because your child is way too young. But then if you don’t really have any other option then you have to put your child of the day care center.
Most of the present day organizations allow only two to three weeks leave post childbirth, so you must begin searching for a day care center even before the baby is born. That way you will be able to spend more time with your baby once he arrives, instead of spending time on finding a day care. And whenever you go searching for day care centers, to inquire about the minimum age at which they accept babies.
Finding a day care center that accepts babies below six weeks will need a bit of research and it mostly depends upon the kind of locality you live in and the kind of fee you’re willing to pay on a weekly basis. So get onto the task of finding a day care center for your infant while it’s still time for the child birth.
