What are those nasty lumps on your thighs and hips? Well don’t be alarmed because it is just cellulite which is traceable in almost 90 percent of the women. And when I say women, I mean women only because men are lucky that way and you will hardly ever find a man who has got cellulite. Cellulite is the fat stored around the buttocks and thighs giving them a dimpled or lumpy look. So now you know why your thighs and hips feel so cushiony.
Inspired by those sexy models in advertisements, some of you would have tried almost anything from using creams to using electronic gadgets to exercising to get rid of those unsightly fat lumps. There are lots of causes such as hereditary factors, low physical activity, binging on sweets and fried foods, and going scarce on water which lead to cellulite formation.
But if you’re serious about getting rid of cellulite, leave the causes and all other things aside and get on to a healthy diet and regular exercise program. Crash diets are no good, because they make you splurge too often and specially on weekends and holidays, so just drop the idea. You don’t necessarily need to be fat to have cellulite, even thin women have it. And believe me when I say cellulite is more like your faithful companion (or call it your enemy) who sticks around you through your “thick and thin”.
So by now that you’re convinced that crash dieting isn’t the way to go, how about taking the initiative to plan a healthy and well balanced low fat diet to combat cellulite. Leave all the fried foods and sweet desserts out of your diet plan, and replace them with lots and lots of water and green veggies. And as we said losing weight isn’t enough, how about getting onto an aerobics program to tone up your muscles. For exercises, cardio and weights training also have a wonderful effect on shrinking cellulite. Do ensure a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise thrice a week, and remember exercise means exercise and it cannot be replaced with your everyday household activities.
