Ways To Prevent Stretch Marks During Pregnancy

Ways To Prevent Stretch Marks During Pregnancy Stretchmark is every woman’s nightmare. For many, pregnancy is equivalent to a scarred body. This single problem is enough to scare beauty conscious women of pregnancy, But do not fear, by incorporating a little care and time in your daily routine, you can easily keep the stretchmarks at minimum or completely at bay even.

So, what is a strechmark? When your skin stretches from inside and if your skin has not enough elasticity to sustain this change, the inner layers of your skin rupture( yes, your skin is made up of layers). So, essentially stretchmarks (also known as striae) is a scar from inside which doesn’t come up to the surface but shows up from outside.

So, what do we do about it?Since there is really no cure, the golden words of the wise apply to these? prevention is better than cure. Most women are vulnerable to these, but the greatest are the expecting mothers. Since the belly swells overtime, the skin ruptures. But do not despair, pregnancy should be all about enjoying and anticipating your connection with the baby. So, although there is no complete prevention as well, you can actually reduce the amount of stretchmarks from showing up.

The first step to this would be, drink plenty of water. Any health conscious knows that water is the ultimate magic potion for your body. Water keeps your skin healthy and glowing, and flushes out the toxins. It also means hydrated skin from inside which would have more elasticity. Include fresh veggies in your diet and make sure that you eat a fair proportion of meat and fish too. The vitamins and the proteins and essential nutrients would keep you and your skin healthy.

Last but not the least, massaging the skin would play a very important part. Massaging doesn’t mean simple massaging. Take some rich cream preferably that which contains Shea butter or Cocoa butter and gently massage into your waist, thighs and breasts and areas most susceptible to strethcmarks, in slow circular motion.

Shea butter or cocoa butter (although the scientific basis yet to be established), is believed to be the magic skin potion. It helps in reducing the appearance of stretch marks, what more, it would actually prevent stretcthmarks, by keeping the skin soft ,if used regularly during pregnancy. When you massage these creams into your skin, your skin becomes soft.

Hence when it stretches, it won’t break and you would still have the smooth skin you had unless genetically you are susceptible to these. This would be most effective if done twice daily. After a bath when your skin is already soft and ready to absorb the cream and before going to bed because at night when your body is resting, the repairing jobs are done by the body which includes healing the skin.

Do not worry if you still get these dreaded lines for ‘beauty lies in the eye of the beholder’. Even if you have these striae running on your body, you are still the same person you always had been. You are still loved by your loved ones. Enjoy your pregnancy and not the marks!
