Try Bleaching To Whiten Your Teeth
Looking for a reason to smile, turn your teeth into dazzling whites and you’ll have one. And apart from smiling to flaunt your white choppers, the other reason to smile is that the whiter your teeth, the younger you look. So that’s almost like killing two birds with one stone.
If at any time you have already toyed with the idea of whitening your denture, then you must have come across the term bleaching, which is the most widely used method for tooth whitening. In bleaching, your dentist would normally use some peroxide to remove the surface stains from your teeth.
The surface of every tooth comprises of extremely porous tiny dentinal tubules which go on absorbing the color pigments, from whatever food and drinks you have, and so become discolored with age. The Peroxide compound works by penetrating into these tubules and bleaching the color pigments to white. For the purpose of bleaching teeth, peroxide is available in different forms like gels, strips and liquid solutions.
But before you step out to get a tooth whitening treatment done, you must understand that the results of bleaching may not be the same for different people. Also, you may not be able to lighten the color of any tooth that has undergone dental procedures like capping or crowning. Tooth bleaching may also be ineffective if you have suffered stains or discoloration of teeth due to some other medical treatment.
Tooth bleaches can also be freely bought over the counter; however these whitening agents are not as powerful as the ones used by the dentists. At the dental clinic, the whitening procedure involves application of a protective gel to your gums before the bleaching agent is spread onto your teeth, and then a special beam of light is used to activate the bleaching agent. And as you know this is quite costly, you can try the home version, which involves using peroxide gel filled plastic dental trays that you need to wear for about one hour every day for a few days.
And for those, who are either not willing to shell out the money or are not comfortable with the idea of using peroxide on their teeth, can lightly brush their teeth with some baking soda. However, avoid doing this too often or you may damage the enamel of your teeth.
