The Proper Way To Condition Your Hair

December 18, 2008

With soft and smooth skin and properly applied makeup, dry hair somehow doesn’t fit into the picture. And the best way to get smooth and shining hair is to deep condition them after shampooing. Shampoo tends to wash off the natural oils from your scalp and your hair leaving them frizzy and rough.

Conditioning is as important for your hair as is water for your skin. To carry out a deep conditioning hair treatment for your hair at home, you need to have the right hair care product in the first place. Find out what your hair type is and accordingly purchase a shampoo and a conditioner. There are certain hairs products which work on specific problems like dandruff and hair fall Etc. So if you have any additional hair problems, look for products which are meant for that specific hair problem of yours.

Before you go conditioning, wash your hair clean with the shampoo using warm water. Make it a habit to never use hot water for your hair because it aggravates dryness. Remember to rinse off your hair properly so that no traces of the shampoo remain in your hair. Use a towel to dry your hair, and then apply a generous helping of conditioner along your hair length.

You can use a hair comb to spread the conditioner more evenly on your hair. Dip a towel in hot water and rinse off as much water as possible, and then wrap it around your hair and let it stay there for a minimum of fifteen minutes. Later you can rinse off your hair with warm water and dry them with a towel. Try avoiding a blow dryer, and let your hair dryer naturally to preserve the moisture and to prevent frizz.

If you’re not keen on buying a commercial conditioner, you can even make your own hair conditioner at home and we have here two wonderful recipes which can help. For the first one beat in some olive oil into an egg yolk and use it the same way as you would use the market bought conditioner. The other option is to boil an apple and take out the pulp, mix this apple with a mashed banana and some homemade yogurt and apply it onto your shampooed hair. For the second recipe, it must be left on the hair for a minimum of 30 minutes before you rinse it off.

Proper conditioning will ensure soft and shiny hair by giving your hair the right dose of moisture and repairing your damaged hair.
