Surviving Long Distance Relationship

No matter how deep your love is for each other, maintaining a long distance relationship over several months and years is an admirable feat.

This is not something that can be achieved merely by keeping in touch with each other regularly. It takes a lot more than that to keep it as sturdy as it was in the beginning – the most important being a strong foundation to the relationship.

Trust is extremely important when it comes to maintaining a relationship that doesn’t let you keep a check on your partner. Constantly doubting each other only makes the relationship run downhill.

Unless you trust your partner from your heart, a long distance relationship will never work. One way you can deal with this is to have a good communication with your partner. Don’t keep your doubts to yourself. Speak out and get them cleared as soon as possible so as to not create further misunderstandings in a relationship.

Naming your relationship right is also very important to prevent from further confusions from happening. Make sure whether your relationship is simply all about dating or if you both are willing to step forward or just want to remain as friends. This also helps you keep your hopes and expectations on check which further prevents you from getting hurt later.

Another great way to keep the feelings in touch is to make sure you do things together as much as possible. You don’t have to keep the relationship just at phone calls.

Try watching movies and TV shows together or take suggestions from your partner in little decisions you make in daily life. This will let your partner know that they are still given all the importance and treasured as much as before. This is a great way to fill up the lost gap of having the person around while they are away.

You can also treat yourself once in a while by making a small trip to visit your partner. This might be impossible if your partner lives very far away but if that’s not the case, make sure you keep in touch by paying them regular visits.

As long as your relationship has a strong foundation of trust and good communication, long distance relationship will work, no matter how long it might stretch to.
