Smokey eye makeup has been has been ruling the glamour world for the past few fashions seasons, and still it shows no signs of making an exit sometime in the near future.
Before we teach you how to get that perfect smokey look for your eyes, we would like to stress on the importance of blending the colors because that is one small thing that determines how successful and how pleasing the outcome of your efforts will be.
The procedure is quite simple and once you’ve understood it, it won’t take more than five minutes for you to give your eyes a real smokey look.
Do the groundwork
The first thing that you need to do is to make a base for the eye makeup, using an eye shadow primer. Coating your eyelid with the primer will prevent the eye and make up from melting into the crease, while keeping the surface oil-free for easier application of the eye makeup.
Unlike the regular eye make up, the application of the eyeliner needs to be done before the application of the shadow. Depending on the kind of smokey effect you want to achieve, you can use black, gray or brown eyeliner to draw lines along the base of the eyelashes.
Use the lighter shade
The most important feature of smokey eye makeup is to pair the lighter base with the darker shade. Use some cream or beige as the based shade and sweep this shade all over the eyelid up to the brow bone. Look for a moose type of eye shadow to make the base, since this type helps the makeup to stay in place for longer.
Blend in the darker shade
With the base already in place, you can proceed with the darker eye shadow shade applying it along the lash line, letting it cover half of the thickness of the eyeliner. After spreading the darker eye shadow, blend it upwards right from the eyeliner up to the crease of the eyelid.
The finishing touch
To give your eyes a final finishing touch, coat your eyelashes with the volumising mascara, and you’re ready to flaunt your smokey eyes.
