Repair Damaged Hair – Some Tips

Hair conditioning can be done by using a homemade conditioner which can be prepared by mixing together 2 teaspoons of olive oil to whisked egg.

Application of this conditioner will help to moisturize your hair and will also help to repair split ends. For best results, this conditioner should be used twice a week, for a month. Subjecting your hair to excessive heat treatments can result in the stripping away of oil from the scalp, which can ultimately lead to the formation of hair which is dry and damaged.In order to repair this damaged hair, you can subject your scalp to regular massaging. The massaging action stimulates the sebaceous glands in the scalp to produce more oil, thus helping to restore the natural oil balance in the scalp.

You can also perform hot oil massage once a week, as a remedial measure for dry hair and also to strengthen the hair. The massage can be done by heating oils like olive oil and coconut oil and applying it on to the scalp later on. Leave the oil for 30 minutes after its application and cover the hair with a shower cap. Wash off the oil after the stipulated time period and shampoo and condition as usual. This treatment is found very suitable for hair which has been damaged by frequent color treatments.

Using an avocado hair mask is another effective method for treating hair which has become dry and brittle due to the action of dyes and bleaches. Avocado will hydrate the hair and will increase its shine and elasticity. The nutrients like Vitamin C, Vitamin E, copper and zinc which are present in avocado, will strengthen the hair and will promote its healthy growth. To prepare the hair mask, you can mix together one mashed avocado, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of yogurt.

The avocado mask thus prepared is to be applied throughout the hair, starting from the root to the tips. The hair mask is to be then shampooed off after 30 minutes. People who swim regularly have a greater chance of getting their hair damaged, owing to the chlorine content of the water present in the swimming pools. To prevent this condition, it is advised that you wear swim caps during the pool session, in order to protect the hair.

It is mandatory that you wash your hair thoroughly after each swimming session, in order to get rid of the chlorine which can be present in the hair shaft. In addition to this you can also rinse your hair with club soda in order to prevent chlorine from damaging your hair. You should also follow a healthy diet enriched in leafy greens and should also drink plenty of water, in order to prevent your hair from getting damaged. Also do wear a scarf or a hat as a protective measure for your hair, when you venture out into extreme heat or when you face strong winds.
