Quick Weight Loss Can Lead To Hanging Skin

Quick weight loss, either with crash dieting or by some other technique, usually leaves your skin loose and hanging. So while you have been successful in overcoming one of the glitches, your body fat, you’re faced with a new problem and that is your hanging skin.

Slow and steady wins the race

That is one reason why most health experts advise you to losing weight slowly and gradually, following a healthy diet and a regular exercise program. So when you plan to fight the flab, don’t resort to any quick weight loss programs such as crash dieting, extreme lifestyle changes or using weight loss drugs.

To keep the weight loss process healthy it is advised that you should lose no more than 2lb. a week. Often, when people reduce weight too quickly their tendency to regain the weight becomes higher, and it is quite possible that you may be back to square one within a few weeks.

Quick weight loss is often accompanied by a whole lot of problems, with the most common problem being that of loose and hanging skin. The haggard looking skin is not just unsightly, but it also deprives you of the opportunity to flaunt your newly achieved slim waistline. You strive hard to lose the weight, but eventually when the consequences show up on your skin, your happiness turns into frustration, because now you have one more target to achieve and that is to get your skin back into shape.

Possible ways to overcome hanging skin

The easiest, but somewhat expensive, way to deal with hanging skin is to get it removed through cosmetic surgery. And well let me warn you, that this choice is going to make a real killing on your pocket because cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance and you will have to pay for the entire procedure out of your pocket.

Your next choice is one which is absolutely free but requires some real hard work, and that is exercising and following a good healthy diet. Following a regular exercise program, such as resistance training, following a healthy diet plan and consuming lots and lots of water will help in tightening up the skin and bringing back its elasticity. Occasional body massages will also show fruitful results.
