Prevention and Healing Tips for Eye Stye

Eye stye occurs on the edge of the eyelid, which is seen in the form of a boil, and is caused due to an infection. The stye is characterized by inflammation, pain, swelling, redness or heat that. There can be strain in the eyes as well due to the condition. Eye Stye is caused by bad nutritional habits and it can pass on from one follicle to the other if rubbed as it is a contagious ailment and can be easily passed on from one person to another. It is more prevalent among children than adults though.

The good news is there are many remedies for eye stye. Even though there are people who are more prone to the condition than the others, there are tips of prevention of eye stye for all and are mentioned below:

Always wash your hands thoroughly before you touch your eyes. In case you have to clean the eyes, always gently clean off the excess oils from the outer edge of the eyelids. It should be done regularly amongst individuals who are prone to the condition.

Ensure that the hair of the eyelids is not roughly dealt with to cause breakage. If you are prone to the condition, or know someone who is, then ensure that no makeup is shared. Also avoid strain and stress to the eyes and do not sit in the front of the computer for a long time. Do not wear contact lenses when you have eye stye.

The treatment firstly involves reducing pain, inflammation or swelling in the eye. The magnitude can be decreased by pressing a washcloth that is soaked in warm water against the eyelid for 10 minutes. Do it at least 4 times a day for the boil to reduce. Antibiotic treatments help considerably. Anti bacterial ointments and eye drops help in reducing the pain of the boil.

Do not press and squeeze it to drain it. Always allow the stye to drain on its own accord and heal naturally. It usually takes about a week to completely heal and the usage of warm compressor on the area helps. If not, then visit a doctor to prevent any further complications.
