Ponytails Can Be Stylish Too

Ponytails are not just for little school girls, in fact it’s rather a versatile hairstyle which can even be used for those highly prestigious red carpet events. The important thing is how well can you style a ponytail, and if you’re good you can just carry this hairstyle to almost any occasion.

It is also known as one of the stylish summer hairstyles. It’s no big ordeal, but we will teach you how to get it right.

Whatever hair style you’re trying to make, the essential requirement is the same that is absolutely clean hair. Although straight hair is the best for a ponytail, but women with wavy or curly hair needn’t feel dejected, you can always apply some straitening balm while your hair is still damp. For straight hair, just run a little blow dryer on your hair with the concentrator attachment, but for curly hair just skip this step and straighten your hair with a wide toothed comb.

Next thing, decide about where you want to part your hair, that is in the middle, on the left or on the right. If you’re not too sure try all the three and you’ll be able to find out which one sits better on your facial structure. The next thing to decide is whether you want to tie your ponytail high or low, because both bring about a different effect. If you have a thin face you could try the high ponytail to lay more emphasis on your cheekbones, however most people feel low ponytails are more sophisticated and sleek in style.

The only accessory, that you need is an elastic band, but avoid the regular rubber bands because they tend to pull and rip your hair. Look for a band which has a protective outer covering that makes it easier to remove without breaking any hair. Use your palms to pull back your hair slightly before you secure it with the elastic band. If your hair doesn’t set right at the crown, push in a pencil into your hair and pull it up slightly and then glide it backwards to fix the tease.

Normally a small head bag forms below your ponytail at the back, to avoid this don’t bend your head forward when you pull up the hair from the back of your head. When you’re done with a ponytail, take some leave-in conditioner in your palms and run your palms over your head and your ponytail. This will smoothen out the hair strands and leave your hair silky and smooth.
