Heredity, hormonal problems and lack of proper care can be some of the causes for oily hair. Oily hair can be quite an annoying problem. But there is no problem without a solution. Here are some remedies which will help you deal with the problem of oily hair.
Wash your hair regularly. Choose a mild shampoo which is specifically suited for oily hair types. Apply the shampoo on the length of the hair away from the roots and scalp. If you have oily hair, then you will only need to condition the tips of your hair.
After applying shampoo and conditioner, rinse your hair thoroughly with cold water, as otherwise any residual chemicals in the hair will add to its oiliness. After your hair has dried up completely, you can apply talcum powder on your scalp so as to reduce the oil secretion.
Spread the powder throughout your scalp and hair using your fingers. Finally fluff your hair so that the powder won’t be visible.
As a natural remedy for oily hair, you can treat your hair with a vinegar rinse made of 1 part vinegar and 4 parts water and wash it off later on. The acidic nature of vinegar is seen helpful in reducing the oiliness of the hair. You can also rinse your hair with a solution of lemon juice to get rid of the greasiness.
Tea tree oil applied on hair will help in removing the extra greasiness of the hair. Also rinsing your hair with a solution of chamomile oil and water will help in removing the oiliness and will also make your hair smooth and shiny.
Do not brush hair often as it will lead to the spreading of oil throughout your hair. Never rinse your hair with hot water and do not subject your hair to excessive heat treatments. These processes are seen to cause an increase in the oil production of the sebaceous glands present in your scalp.
Also have a healthy diet devoid of fried foods and rich in fruits and vegetables for a non oily problem free hair.
