Oil Cleansing Method – For Clean And Blemish Free Skin
Instead of using a wide array of expensive skin care products, which are available in the beauty section of departmental stores, most women are opting for natural products to keep their skin looking fresh, clean and healthy.
The main reason for this shift is due to the prescene of harsh chemicals which are present in most cosmetic products and which creates some kind of skin irritation. The beauty industry which has recently woken up to the power of natural ingredients has started marketing a range of skin care products which are one hundred percent natural.
Most facial cleansers do not deliver what they promise. While many cleansers promise to cure skin problems like acne completely, in reality they rob the skin of precious moisture and leaves the skin feeling dry with increased chances of new acne breakouts. This causes people with various skin problems to experience even greater despair than before. Many chemicals inside these so called miracle skin cleansers can also hasten the skin ageing process.
Sebum is the oil secreted by the sebaceous glands which are found just below the skin surface to keep the skin moisturized. When harsh soaps and cleansers are used on the delicate facial skin, it can strip the skin of these natural oils. This destroys the skins natural oil balance and causes the sebaceous glands to work overtime and produce even more oil or sebum.
This not only gives the face an oily appearance, because of excess sebum production, it can also cause the skin pores to become clogged. This in turn gives rise to skin conditions like pimples, acne, white and blackheads. One of the revolutionary new methods of cleansing the facial skin is the oil cleansing method.
In this natural skin care routine, the facial skin is cleansed using natural oils instead of harsh soaps and skin cleansers. The oil cleansing method has become extremely popular in a very short period of time for its ability to keep the facial skin looking dewy and healthy, free from blemishes and all kinds of skin problems.
While a variety of natural oils are used in the oil cleansing method, castor oil is almost always used as the base oil as it possesses some unique skin soothing properties. Skin friendly oils or oils which are absorbed by the skin very quickly are used in the oil cleansing method. Some of the common oils used in the oil cleansing method are jojoba oil, avocado oil, grape seed oil, sunflower oil and extra virgin olive oil. While castor oil is excellent base oil for treating blackheads and acne, olive oil injects moisture into the skin.
For dry skin a blend of castor and sunflower seed oil in the proportion 30:70 works well. For dry skin take castor and sunflower oil in a 10:90 proportion while a 20:80 blend of castor and sunflower oils is beneficial for normal skin types. A few drops of the oil blend are first warmed by rubbing them between the palms. Apply the oil on the face using a gentle massage technique. Next dip a towel in hot water, squeeze the excess water out and place it on the face. Finally wipe excess oil away gently with a soft cloth and pat the skin dry.
