Lip balm acts as a natural protective layer which protects the sensitive skin on the lips from drying agents like the heat, dry air, wind and cold temperatures. The following recipes for lip balms are made with all natural ingredients and can be prepared in an extremely short period of time.

Cocoa Butter and Sweet Almond Oil Natural Lip Balm



To prepare this lip balm, melt two and a half ounces each of cocoa butter and beeswax with one and a quarter ounces of sweet almond in a heavy bottomed pan. Once the ingredients have melted and blended together, pour into small, clean jars to be used as and when required.

Lemon Essential Oil and Apricot Oil Natural Lip Balm

In a heavy bottomed saucepan, melt one teaspoon of beeswax. Once the wax has melted, mix once teaspoon of apricot oil and one teaspoon of calendula oil. Stir continuously until a smooth paste is formed.



Switch off the heat and allow the mixture to cool down. Now add a few teaspoons of lemon essential oil. Transfer to a clean container and use regularly to soothe dry, chapped lips.

Castor Oil and Glycerin Natural Lip Balm

Place a small saucepan over a double boiler. Once the saucepan begins to heat up, pour five tablespoons of castor oil into the pan. Add on tablespoon of beeswax and stir till a smooth paste is formed.

Remove from heat. Then add one teaspoon of glycerin to the mixture and five drops of peppermint essential oil. Transfer to a clean and airtight jar.

Mint and Shea Butter Cooling Natural Lip Balm

In a saucepan placed over a double boiler, melt one tablespoon of beeswax and one tablespoon of shea butter. Heat till the mixture reaches about hundred and eighty degrees fahrenheit.

Once the mixture reaches the desired heat remove the saucepan from the heat source. Finally add one and a half teaspoons of avocado oil and a quarter teaspoon of mint flavoring agent.
