Making Your Own Perfumes Isn’t Difficult
Most perfumes are exclusive and exquisite, and that’s what makes their price soar sky high. But that’s not all to the high price, since marketing, bottling, packaging and taxes are the other costs which make the price simply exorbitant.
But if you’re willing to make some extra effort, we will teach you here how to make your own perfume at home and that too at a fraction of the cost that you would normally pay for buying a perfume from the market. Of course, the art isn’t easy and you may have to experiment a little before you gain expertise in making your own perfume.
Things you’ll need
The two most important ingredients that you will need to buy are some pure Vodka (or some other odorless alcohol) and Essential oils. The amount of essential oil that you use in the concoction will determine the strength of the perfume. By normal standards you need to mix essential oil and thinned alcohol in the ratio of 1:5, but you can always increase the essential oil content if you’re looking for stronger and long lasting perfumes.
To thin the alcohol, you will need to dilute it with some distilled water. And in case you want to add in a bit of color to the perfume, to make it look attractive when stored in the bottle, you can add in some natural vegetable food dye that is non-staining. And finally you’ll need some stylish sterilized bottles to store your perfumes in.
The procedure
First of all you need to mix in the essential oils into the alcohol, and stir them up vigorously so that they blend well with each other. Let the mixture stand for about two days, and then you can gradually add in the distilled water. After this you again need to let the mixture stand for about 48 hours before you finally filter and bottle your perfume.
And if you’re planning on making some real strong perfumes, then you will need to hold the mixture for four to six days. A few drops of glycerin can also be added to the mixture to help the essential oils dissolve faster into the alcohol.
