Makeup Tips for Dark Skin Tones
Makeup exists for nearly all skin types and all skin tones, so even if you’re dark skinned, using makeup to accentuate your beauty should not pose any problems.
However, applying makeup on dark skin can be a little tricky, but with these lovely tips here you should be able to fix any of your makeup problems easily.
1. The first and the most important rule, is to use all cosmetics in moderation, so as to let the natural beauty of your skin and its inner glow come to the surface. Even when you want to look extra special, avoid all the temptations to go heavy on makeup. Highlighting is the strategy that will work best on your dark skin tone, and that too should be done using closest matching shades. Apart from making the right choices in terms of the shade of makeup, what’s equally important is mastering the art of blending it well with your skin.
2. For your eye makeup, you’ll do best to skip the eyeliner. However if you must use it, keep the lines as thin as possible and let it closely hug the shape of your eyes. Even a slight excess of it will make your eyes to pop out and ruin the whole look. Mascara is your better friend, especially one that is in a clear shade. Because, your basic purpose of using mascara is to hold the eyelashes in place and not to make them look darker. And you can also achieve similar results using an eyelash curler. However, using mascara lets your curled eyelashes stay in shape for longer.
3. Foundation is the main thing that will help in accentuating the natural glow and beauty of your skin. The golden rule to follow is to find the closest matching shade, which will be difficult to differentiate from your natural skin tone.
4. Finally for your lips, choose a lipstick shade that complements your eye color. Ideally, dark skinned women should set the focus on their lips, and to achieve that you need to mark the contours of your lips with a lip liner which is about one shade lighter than your lipstick color.
