Let’s Go Shopping For An Automobile
December 26, 2008
Thus far, buying a car has been an activity confined to the man’s realms, probably so because buying a car is seen by women as one job that is too technical. Well we would say, you don’t always need to depend on a man to buy a car if you just read this article in its entirety.
Like most things, the utility and price are the foremost concerns when deciding about which car to buy. Once you’re absolutely clear about what kind of a car can solve your purpose and how much you’re willing to spend on it, both in terms of the onetime cost and the annual maintenance and running costs, you’re not too far from your dream car.
Most people believe that your choice of a car is a subtle reflection of your personality and image. So what’s your personality type is the first question you need to address, like are you an adventurer, a family oriented person, a busy business professional or one in the creative field. The type of car that you choose has to be completely in-line with your personality and the kind of anticipated usage of the car.
If you’re a business executive who needs a car to move around within the cramped streets of the city, a hatchback will be the most fitting, however when you are an adventurer who loves to go out camping nothing less than an SUV may suit your purpose. Apart from your purpose, you also need to look at the feasibility in terms of parking space and easy maneuvering.
For the next important aspect that is budget, you need to make comparisons amongst different cars not just in terms of the one time costs that you will be paying, but also giving due weight-age to running and maintenance costs like insurance, mileage, servicing charges, accessories and repairs. It’s a bit of a number game, but don’t ignore it because there’s no point repenting later that you bought a car which has a very low mileage.
When you’ve arrived at about three or four different models of cars, that fit your personal requirements, grab some automobile magazines or browse the net, to find out the reviews about the cars from people who already own those models. You can even walk over to the car service station, and the engineers or the mechanics there may be able to point out at the deficiencies in each of these models.
And lastly, when you have found the right car model, don’t just go to a dealer and buy it, instead visit several different dealers and see what the different offers they have for you are. Also you may be able to negotiate the price somewhat and get a fair deal. If not a price cut, some of the dealers may offer you free accessories or maybe free insurance.
