Determining your hair type should be the first step towards giving proper hair wash to your hair. Choosing a wrong product for your hair will give you no results and may even lead to some side effects. So, it is very important to determine the hair type prior to selecting the right product.
For instance, you should never choose shampoo for oily hair if you have dry hair. Other than that, from the wide range of hair products available in the market, you should choose the one that is best suited for your hair. Try to go for natural formulation based shampoos and conditioners as they are far less harmful than the chemical based ones.
Beauty experts recommend using shampoo for at least 3-4 days in a week. But that is not necessary for everyone as everyone don’t have the same hair type and excessive shampooing may strip natural oils from the hair.
For instance, working women, students and those who have oily and greasy hair may need to wash their hair frequently in order to keep it clean. But those who have normal or dry hair should refrain from shampooing too much. So, if you want to get the most out of your shampoo session, then following these steps will definitely help you get that.
Comb your hair thoroughly prior to shampooing. That will remove lumps from the hair and will reduce the quantity of hair breakage while shampooing. Secondly, combing also helps to increase the blood flow which makes hair strong and healthy.
Wet your hair before applying shampoo on your hair.
Take a dollop of shampoo on your palm and mix it with half the amount of water. This will dilute the shampoo and will also reduce the damage quotient. Once done, apply the shampoo to the roots of the hair and then gradually work it down up to the tips of the hair. You may use more shampoo if you require but don’t overdo it. Applying excessive shampoo will only dry out your hair instead of properly cleaning it.
Once your hair is thoroughly lathered with the shampoo, massage your head with the tips of your fingers for at least 3-4 minutes.
Once everything is done, rinse your hair with clean water until all of the shampoo goes out of your hair and your hair becomes squeaky clean. Use cold water or lukewarm water to wash your hair, but avoid using hot water as that dries out the hair.
