Nobody will wish to have a skin that is filled with acne. Acne is a condition which is caused due to the over activity of the sebaceous glands present in the skin. Even though seen predominantly in teenagers, this condition can very well affect people of all ages.
In order to treat this condition, one can adopt a variety of methods, which range from natural remedies to the use of conventional medications. One such natural remedy which is widely practiced around the world involves the use of an essential oil, namely tea tree oil. This essential oil has excellent anti microbial properties, which makes it extremely useful in the treatment of acne.
However, there are many factors that one should consider while using tea tree oil. Given below are the steps which you can follow while using tea tree oil for acne treatment.
How To Use Tea Tree Oil For Acne
Prepare Your Skin
Before using tea tree oil, do see to it that you prepare your skin in the proper manner. For this purpose, you will have to first steam your face. This will open up the skin pores, get rid of the impurities present and will thus allow the essential oil to penetrate deep into your skin pores. Following this, do pat dry your face using a clean towel.
Dilute Tea Tree Oil
Using pure tea tree oil on your skin can give rise to many unwanted allergic reactions. Hence, it is always recommended that you use only diluted tea tree oil for treating acne. However, an important factor to be considered here is the degree of dilution. You should always remember that the degree of dilution of the essential oil should be in accordance with your skin type.
People having sensitive skin should use half a teaspoon of tea tree oil to which 10 teaspoons of water has been added. As an alternative, you can also combine 1 part of tea tree oil with 9 parts of Aloe vera gel. The use of Aloe vera will help in soothing the skin and will thus protect the skin from the adverse effects of undiluted tea tree oil. If you have a normal or a dry skin, then you can use a solution prepared by mixing 1 part of tea tee oil with 9 parts of water.
Apply Tea Tree Oil
The next step in acne treatment is the application of tea tree oil. The diluted oil can be applied directly over the acne with the help of a clean cotton ball. Do not wash off the oil, but instead allow it to dry completely. After the oil has dried completely, do treat your face with an oil free moisturizer.
Do repeat this treatment twice a day in order to obtain quick results.
The Alternative Option
Instead of applying tea tree oil directly to your skin, you can also make use of a tea tree oil face mask. This face mask can be prepared by mixing tea tree oil, green clay powder and water, so as to form a paste. This tea tree oil face mask is very effective for treating acute cases of acne.
Finally, you should take care not to go out in the sun immediately after treating your skin with tea tree oil, as it can lead to the development of skin irritations.
