How To Take Care of Long Hair?

Long hair is an asset and though it enhances your beauty by many folds, it also requires immense maintenance to give you that beautiful, shimmy and silky hair. Lack of care makes your hair look gruff and disorderly. Here are some tips to ensure that you have the luster and life in that hair.

First of all, the basics need to be set straight. Ensure that you use the right shampoo for your hair. Identify the hair type and choose the shampoo accordingly. The best beauty products offer shampoos for thin hair, thick hair and curly hair too.

Then the oil content of the hair shows what should be the right combination for oily/dry hair. Choose a matching conditioner along with the shampoo to allow all the tangles to be removed from the hair. If the tangles remain, the hair will get pulled every time you will comb making it weaker.

Also the conditioner nourishes the hair with the right nutrients and moisturizer. Any harsh shampoo tends to remove the right oil and moisture content required for the maintenance of your hair.

If you have chosen the right kind of shampoo and conditioner, then there is no harm in washing your hair every third day. Initially your hair will look flat and greasy, but later it will adjust to the treatment and the scalp will automatically produce less oil.

When applying conditioner, do not concentrate on the scalp but instead take your hair in a ponytail from the side and apply the conditioner all through it; this process will ensure that the conditioner is used throughout the entire volume of hair.

Do not use a lot of styling products like mousse or leave in conditioners. They tend to clog the oil glands and render hair dry and also cause the buildup of scalp related issues.

Whenever you comb your hair, use a wide teeth comb. Do it when your hair is wet because then it will be easy to straighten as well as disentangle it. Excessive use of blow drier also results in hair fall. To minimize the use, towel-dry your hair as much as possible before using a dryer.
