There are thousands or even millions of profiles listed on internet dating sites, and no matter how good a reputation the dating site carries there is no guarantee that there won’t be any fake profiles on them. With that said deciding on which profiles to consider and which ones to dismiss seems a bit problematic. But there are always some things that you can do to prevent getting stuck up with fake dating profiles.
Know them for real
You’ve just browsed through some profile and the profile seems quite to your liking. What’s written there seems to match your liking and even the photo seems fairly attractive, what do you do next to be sure that it’s a real profile and not a fake one? Well the plainest thing you can do is to make a small investment and get yourself a web cam and a headphone with mic, that’s if you don’t already have one.
Most dating sites have the facility for video chat, so use it to be sure the person looks and sounds exactly like what’s given in his profile. And only if you are convinced after the video chat should you pass on your contact number to him or decide on going out on a date with him. If your dating site doesn’t support video chat, use a chat messenger like yahoo to make a video call.
Use social networking
To know a bit more about some one you came across on the dating website, think about using social networking sites like orkut, facebook and the likes to dig up more information about them. If you know the persons complete name and his city of residence or his email address you can easily trace him on the social networking sites. When you’ve found his profile on any of these networking sites verify his profile details with what he has mentioned in his dating profile.
Next look at the kind of activities he does on these sites, the communities or groups he has joined and you’ll have a fair idea of what his interest are like. Also look at his friends list, because the old proverb that a man is known by the company he keeps is very true. And a simple glance at his friends list will also give you an idea about how social the person is.
These are two effective online tricks to find out whether a particular profile, that you came across on a dating site, is fake or real.
