A budget is not a bad thing. When I was in my teens and living with my parents I hated the word ‘budget’ however when I moved out I realized that it was not such a bad thing. These days I have a budget for everything from groceries to clothes. Not many women are very comfortable with a shopping budget but it is very helpful in the long run. Here are a few ways to shop on a budget.
If you are on a budget then you need to first list the items that you absolutely cannot do without. This includes those articles that are a must have and those that you need for the season.
Look out for department store clearing houses. These are normally the places where you can get the best bargains. This is because these stores often order more garments than the can store and they sell the surplus at fashionably low prices.
If you are a shopaholic then you tend to lay your hands on every article of clothing and every accessory that is on sale. This is not a healthy habit as it will lead to you shopping for things that you have no use or need for.
In order to prevent this you need to analyze how important that item is to your closet; if you absolutely must have it then you can buy it. I use a different trick though. If an item is one sale at half off then I try to imagine myself paying full price for it. If the answer is yes that means I need that article and thus I don’t hesitate to pick it up.
Spend on outer wear. This includes shoes, bags, trench coats and even scarves. These accessories can be used with several outfits and hence they are a smart choice. Buy these accessories so that they last you more than one season. Black and brown handbags are an absolute must so don’t feel shy to spend on these items. You also need a trench; this is one article where you can be flamboyant. Trench coats in bright colors add drama to your look so this may be something you want to consider.
Buy quality products that will last you for a few months so that you do not have to splurge on the same items too often.
