How to Choose Earrings That Compliment your Face Shape

A pair of gorgeous earrings can accessorize any look. Earrings which compliment your face’s natural shape can be a head turner.Keeping a few pointers in mind with regard to earrings, can help  to enhance your overall look vastly.

Not every woman is blessed with the perfect oval face. However the right earrings can help a woman give the impression of a wider or slimmer face. Face shapes can be broadly classified as round, square, oval, oblong, diamond and heart shaped.

A round or circular face is one which is equally long and wide.. Round faced women should opt for long dangling earrings which are slightly bent, as this helps to draw the attention away from the face while simultaneously elongating it. Drop earrings or angular studs are the earrings of choice for this face type. Button earrings, small studs and hoops should be avoided at all cost. Drew Barrymore and Penelope Cruz are examples of women who have a round face.

Stars like Kate Hudson, Beyonce Knowles and Charlize Theron have oval shaped faces. Oval shaped faces are wider at the forehead and narrower at the chin. Teardrops and studs are the best option for these women even though they can carry almost any earring style with panache.

You can soften a square shaped face by wearing dangling earrings which may be of a long or medium style, like multi- tiered dangling earrings, long teardrops and drop earrings. Hoops can also be worn by square faced women, as they create an illusion of roundness. However, square shaped or highly angled earrings should be shunned. Salma Hayek and Demi Moore are celebrities with a square shaped face.

The angelic looking heart shaped face is characterized by a narrow jaw line, a wide forehead and high cheekbones. Teardrop earrings, triangular and chandelier shaped ones work well for diamond shaped faces.  Starlets with  heart shaped faces like Scarlett Johansson and Reese Witherspoon should steer clear of  earrings which are heart shaped.

Small drop earrings, studs and wide earrings work well for diamond faces. Sophia Loren has the quintessential diamond face shape.

Chandelier type earrings and simple studs can make an oblong face – which is  long but not wide – look stunning. Terri Fletcher and Angelina Jolie who have oblong shaped faces should avoid wearing long and angular earrings.
