Healthy Eating Goes A Long Way In Fighting Cellulite
While you can always use cosmetic and surgical procedures to get rid of cellulite, the best and a more permanent ways to avoid the problem of cellulite is through proper diet management.
The do’s and don’ts
In the first place, you need to cut down on your fat intake as fatty food is the number one reason for the formation of cellulite. Also going heavy on alcohol and coffee has been associated with the problem of cellulite. Over-processed foods and those packed foods which contain too many chemical additives also need to be ruled out from your diet chart. While eating right is important, you may also need to shed down a few pounds if you really want to get rid of cellulite and prevent its formation in the future.
The problem of Cellulite is primarily related to the strength and health of the connective tissues found in the skin, and to keep them healthy you need to increase your intake of foods containing antioxidants. Most raw fruits and vegetables, such as tomatoes, strawberries, celery, oranges and broccoli, are good sources of antioxidants. Of all the antioxidants, the most important is vitamin C which has shown tremendous results in restoring damaged skin structure. All the other antioxidants work towards fighting free radicals which are the major source of most skin and health problems.
Beta carotene is another antioxidant that you need to be looking for, since this again has been found to help fight cellulite. To get your everyday supply of beta carotene, just add two carrots or two tomatoes to your everyday salads, and you’re done.
Pectin found in fruits, particularly apple, pears and citrus fruits, plays a wonderful role in detoxifying the digestive system, which eventually has some beneficial results in fighting cellulite. Most of these fruits also contain certain acids which help in neutralizing toxins and restoring the pH balance of the skin.
