Hair Brushes & Makeup Brushes – Splurge Or Save?
Invest some big amount of money on quality hair brushes while saving a bit on your makeup brushes. Though you may get tempted to buy cheap hair brushes prepared of plastic bristles, remember that it will damage you hair by pulling and breaking it. Buying a boar bristle brush of high quality will be a lifetime investment.
As these brushes have gained tremendous popularity, they are now available at some of the superior drugstores. But the cost of these boar bristle brush will be more than that of their plastic counterparts. However, a Mason Pearson brush having the price tag of $125 will be an investment worth your money.
When it comes to makeup brushes, go for the synthetic ones instead of the brushes with natural bristles. For wet makeup, the former is comparatively easier to use and clean than the latter one (usually made of squirrel, pony, badger or goat hair), which is more expensive.
Another factor to be considered is the time span for which you will be able to use these products. Cheap makeup brushes tend to wear very soon and won’t last longer. However, brushes of high quality that are well made will serve for a long time.
So, think about putting your money for affordable brushes marketed by Sonia Kashuk, M.A.C. or Sephora. Though these brushes aren’t low-priced, they won’t make a dent in you pocket like my group of Trish McEvoy brushes did when I purchased them years ago. So, invest in some good quality brushes, only 3-4 in number, to get the perfect makeup similar to a model.
An additional tip that will help: Always discard the small brushes that you will get with makeup purchased from department stores. Rather, choose a professional makeup brush to get the perfect finish, which is flawless as well.
