Get Rid of Brown Spots on Skin

Brown spots can appear on your skin for a lot many reasons like ageing, sun damage, freckles, skin discoloration or hyper-pigmentation. Most women encounter this problem after the age of 40, and although these are harmless, treating them is essential because they can mar your beauty. Here are some tips that may prove helpful in treating brown spots.

Lemon juice

There is nothing easier and economical than using lemon juice to treat brown spots. Lemon has natural bleaching properties, which help in lightening the spots and causing them to ultimately fade away, upon being used everyday for about a month. However, lemon juice is effective if the spots are mild and not too deep into the skin.

Butter milk

Butter milk is another effective remedy for treating brown spots on the skin. It contains lactic acid, which works as a peeling agent to exfoliate the top layer of skin cells and thus make the brown spots to disappear.

Hydrogen peroxide, the usual bleaching agent used at beauty saloons is quite effective in lightening and fading brown skin spots. Hydrogen peroxide works quite like the lemon juice, but it is more than ten times stronger than lemon juice, and so you may see instant results. While most of your brown spots may become less visible after the first bleaching sessions, they may completely disappear after 3-4 sessions. If you plan to bleach at home, then you should avoid using hydrogen peroxide solutions with strengths above 3.5 percent.

Hydroquinone creams

Hydroquinone is another safe yet effective chemical that can be used to make the brown spots to fade and disappear. There are several FDA approved hydroquinone creams that can be easily had at the regular drug stores, without the need for any prescription. All the over the counter hydroquinone creams come in strength of 2% or less. And if you think you need a stronger strength, then you must consult your dermatologist, who can prescribe you with the required strength after examining your brown spots.

Glycolic acid creams

Glycolic acid has a skin peeling effect, thus this can also be used to get rid of brown spots on your skin. Glycolic acid based creams are also available as over the counter medication, but these must be used strictly in conformity with the instructions mentioned on the pack.
