Foot Care the Natural Way

Cracked and calloused feet are an extremely unattractive sight.

While we take great pains to make our face and body appear well groomed and beautiful, we often neglect our feet. What we forget in the process is that the feet like the rest of our body speaks volumes about our personality.

Expensive pedicures can help to bring our sadly neglected feet back in order. But why pay exorbitant bills at the local beauty salon when we can achieve the same results at home and at one tenth the cost.

Regular exfoliation of the feet is important to remove the dead skin and dirt which builds up over time. Naturally abrasive ingredients like brown sugar, Epsom salts, and coarsely ground almonds can help to restore the natural beauty of our feet by giving us a gentle exfoliation treatment.

Brown Sugar and Applesauce Foot Scrub

There could not be a more delicious foot scrub than this one. Mix together two tablespoons of dark brown sugar with three tablespoons of applesauce and one tablespoon of virgin olive oil.

Dip your finger tips in this gooey mixture and gently massage over the entire foot. Rinse with lukewarm water. The brown sugar acts as an excellent natural exfoliate.

Heavenly Strawberry Foot Scrub

Strawberries are rich in AHA’s or alpha hydroxy acids. These acids are excellent exfoliates. Puree four fresh strawberries with, three heaped tablespoons of dark brown sugar and two tablespoons of olive oil.

Take a small quantity of this mixture and apply on the foot. Massage in a circular motion. Leave this mixture on the foot for approximately three to five minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.

Cocoa and Coffee Foot Scrub

A cup of freshly brewed coffee in the morning can leave you feeling energized. In the same way a cocoa and coffee scrub can rejuvenate the skin on the feet. To make this scrub combine a tablespoon each of freshly ground coffee beans and one tablespoon of cocoa powder.

To this add one to two tablespoons of heavy cream. Massage this mixture in a circular motion on the feet. Leave the mixture for about five minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water. This scrub can leave the feet soft and beautiful.
