If you’re looking for a somewhat chic replacement for the old style nylon pantyhose, then fishnet stockings are worth a try. Till a few years back they weren’t quite acceptable and were confined to the dark and sultry clubs and comedy shows, but now they’ve made their way into the urban woman’s modern fashion wear.

Here’s a little hint on how you can wear fishnet stockings for a saucy appeal.

Wearing them right

How well your fishnet stockings pair up with the rest of your outfit is determined by several factors such as the size of the mesh, the color, the choice of footwear and obviously your dress. Also, it’s equally important to give due regard to the condition of your stockings, because any holes or tears in them will completely ruin your overall ensemble.

What colors to wear

The three most popular shades are brown, black and nude, and all these three shades can be wore confidently as long as you know which shade to pair up with which outfit and with which footwear.

The nude fishnet stockings can be easily worn to work, even if your work place is somewhat conservative, and they’re definitely more fashionable and passable when you compare them with pantyhose in the same shade.

Although, the stockings are now available in almost every conceivable shade, avoid playing around with the eye-popping colors, especially in the professional arena. The three basic colors that we’ve talked about, and maybe those in whites, are the safest colors, be it professional or casual dress up.

You need to be a bit prudent about how you incorporate fishnets stockings into your workplace clothing, because these stockings undoubtedly have a hip and sexy element attached to them. And well, these elements could make them look a bit hideous in certain conservative work environments, unless you know how to subtly infuse them in your conservative outfit.

Wearing them with skirts and short dresses

Fishnets stockings look ultra chic when worn with skirts and short dresses and some sexy footwear style such as boots, kitten heals or pumps are getting heels. The golden rule here is to never wear them if your skirts hemline is more than an inches above the knee.
