Facial Moisturizers – For Healthy Hydrated Skin

Ageing is an irreversible process and like the rest of the body, the facial skin also shows signs of ageing.

Fine lines, age spots, brown spots, sagging skin and wrinkles are indications of the skin losing its natural elasticity and youthfulness. Facial moisturizers help to keep the facial skin healthy and can keep the ageing process at bay.

Your individual skin type can play an important role in choosing a facial moisturizer. People with normal skin can go in for ordinary facial moisturizers, while people with dry skin need to choose facial moisturizers with higher viscosity. People with oily skin must choose facial moisturizers which are non-comedogenic or those which do not block the skin’s pores.

Facial moisturizers should be applied only after cleansing the skin thoroughly. Ideally apply a lighter moisturizer for the day and a slightly heavier moisturizer for the night. Facial moisturizers can be prepared at home with everyday ingredients which are easily available.

Apricot Kernel Oil and Cocoa Butter Facial Moisturizer:

Heat two ounces of beeswax in a heat resistant glass bowl placed over a double boiler. Now add two ounces of cocoa butter to the melted wax and continue heating. Once the wax and cocoa butter have melted and blended together remove the bowl from the heat source.

Use a ball whisk to beat the beeswax and cocoa butter mixture until it reaches a smooth and fluffy consistency. Add ten ounces of apricot kernel oil and give it a final whisk. Transfer to  airtight and clean glass jars and apply regularly over the face and neck in a circular motion. This facial moisturizer in best kept refrigerated so that the ingredients do not turn rancid.
Egg Yolk and Milk Facial Moisturizer:

This is an excellent natural moisturizer which can give the skin a peachy look. Beat the yolk of one egg in a half a cup of full fat milk. Apply the milk and egg yolk mixture on the face. Allow the mixture to remain on the face for about five to ten minutes and then wash it off with cotton balls soaked in lukewarm water.

Natural ingredients used to prepare these facial moisturizers ensure the skin remains soft and supple without any adverse reactions.
