Eyelid Makeup For A 1980s Fashion Look
Makeup of the Eighties had been in the focus of criticism by ordinary people for quite some time. The way people still react to it is still the same when they had first seen this makeup. The only word that they thought of was perhaps ‘dumbstruck’.
But the fashionistas and the celebrities were not at all taken aback with such kind of reaction. Wondering why? Because that is the kind of reaction they were looking forward to. They wanted to shock the people who were conventional. From music to literature and in all streams of art and culture, this era depended on this. So, it is no wonder that the shock value would permeate into fashion circle.
This style is about making your look almost a color palette. So, the eyelid makeup that was done was also pretty colorful and not for the shy who like everything understated. Begin your makeup with a foundation. As for the eyes, start your eyes with a good eye primer. Dot a little amount and blend it well. This should smoothen out the creases and fine wrinkles on your eyes and absorb the oil as well. This would ensure a smooth and oil free canvas for the eye makeup and also make it last longer.

Since this makeup is colorful, you want the shadows to look bright and vibrant as they do in the palette. So, use a good eye base, preferably a white one or a shade lighter than your skin tone which would make the colors pop and show up in their true hues. Gently rub a bit of the eye makeup base and blend it on the eyes. Do not overdo, as layering would make the eye shadows crease in no time at all.
Take a blending brush and start covering your eyelids with a vibrant green shade. Pat it on to pack up the colors on your lids and then start to blend. After you have done the entire lid, take a crease brush. Take a little blue eye shadow and start working up the crease starting from the outer corner. But, first, make out your crease and then start working it up in a wiper like motion.
Now, with a dark shadow, preferably black or very dark brown, draw and outer ‘V’ o the outer corner and place some of the same dark shadow inside the ‘V’ with the help of a pencil brush. In the next step, take a fluffy eye brush and blend out the seams.
Do not put much pressure as putting on too much pressure would mix up the colors and there would be no pint it in since we want the colors to show up separately, without looking like a patchwork though. Take your pencil brush again and gently put on some of the eye shadow which you used for the outer corner, on the three fourth of the outer lower lash line as well. In the last step of the eye shadow, take a lime green shadow in a lighter shade and place it in the inner corner of your eyes. Last, line your upper and lower lash line with a kohl pencil or a black liner and you are done.
