Ensure Healthy Preschool Years For Your Child
The best time to enjoy your child’s childhood is the preschool years, that’s when your child grows socially, emotionally, physically and mentally and gets ready to leave his babyhood. Slowly you start seeing glimpses of what kind of a person he will grow up to be, as things begin to fall into place for him and everything around him is no more a puzzle.
Once your child crosses the two year mark and till the time he is four, is the period when your child learns to reciprocate and react to the other people’s feelings and emotions. If you’re sad or distressed he may come up to you to give you a nice little hug or may even offer to help you. Now, since this is the time when your child is learning about emotions, you have to take him one step further so that he can better express himself. Playing mirror games, role plays and face cards are a great way to make your preschooler relate with emotions.
Once your kid realizes about emotions, he will want to connect with other people and from then on begins the saga of friendship. This is the time when he will look out for playmates and will show interest in other children. If you want him to learn the social skills, real world practice is important so schedule out some playtime for your child so that he can go and mix around with other children.
While up to the age of three, he will be comfortable to seeing you around when he is socializing, but he may not appreciate it after three years of age. So, let your child be on his own with his playmates so that he is better able to read and interpret the emotions of other people, independently.
Preschool years, is also the time when your child begins to development in self-esteem, and you certainly know how essential healthy self-esteem is for his future. And for is high self-esteem to remain boosted it’s important that you make your child realize that he is loved and is a worthy family member. Whenever your child learns a new skill or achieves something, however small it may be, don’t forget to celebrate it with him. At this point of time your child is constantly seeking positive appraisal and love from your end, so give it to him and see how good and strong a person he will grow up to be.
