Cellulite is a common problem faced by a lot of us. And since cellulite is mostly seen among women so it pretty much gives us nightmares as we tend to lose the toned body look. Cellulite appears on the hips, thighs, buttocks, waist, abdomen, breast as uneven bumpy skin. Cellulite is actually fat depositions that distort the connective tissues beneath the skin and hence gives the skin the dimpled look like the skin of an orange.

Here are some simple home remedies that can help in reducing the appearance of cellulite and can make skin tighter and firmer.
Take some honey and spread a thin layer of honey over the affected place of your body. Massage it with your dry hands over the affected area of your skin for 10 minutes. Rinse the massaged skin area with warm water. Honey is believed to draw salt and toxins out of the skin and thus makes the skin tighter and hence the appearance of cellulite is reduced. This should be done for a month every alternate day for best results.
Epsom Salt Massage
A dry massage can be helpful in reducing the appearance of cellulite. Though these techniques cannot give you a long term solution, but temporarily it can increase the blood circulation of the affected area and can visibly reduce cellulite appearance if done continuously.
Take some Epsom salt in a muslin cloth and make a bag. Now roll on this bag onto the cellulite affected areas giving a massage for at least 10 minutes. Add about 1 lb. of Epsom salt into the water in your bathtub and then soak in for 20 minutes. This treatment can help to drain out the toxins from your skin and makes your skin firmer thereby effectively reducing the cellulite appearance.
Ground Coffee Treatment For Cellulite
Take some caffeinated coffee beans and grind it into dust. Mix olive oil into the coffee dust to make a paste. Now cover your hands with a plastic wrap and massage the paste on the cellulite affected areas for several minutes. After massaging you can cover the area with plastic wraps and leave on for half an hour. Wash off with warm water. This treatment can be repeated every day.
Dry coffee dust can also be used for the cellulite treatment. Massage the dry coffee dust onto the affected areas in the similar manner mentioned above for some minutes. After the massage wash the area off. This will smooth out your skin and the cellulite will get visibly reduced.
Apple Cider Vinegar Solution
Apple cider vinegar is very effective in reducing cellulite whether taken orally or applied topically. Mix 3 parts of apple cider vinegar with one part of any massage oil to prepare a solution and apply it on your cellulite affected areas for 10 minutes. Apple cider vinegar helps to burn fat and this treatment can effectively reduce the appearance of cellulite. For best results, this solution can be massaged daily for two to three times.
Apple cider vinegar can also be taken orally. Mix 2 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar with 8 oz. of water. Add 1 tsp. honey and stir well. This can be consumed daily for it helps in burning fat from within your body.
Massaging the cellulite affected areas of your body with a dry soft brush can effectively help in reducing cellulite. Take a dry soft bristled brush and start massaging the affected areas in the direction of your heart for 5 to 10 minutes. You can also repeat the massaging by moving the brush in a circular motion. This brushing treatment can reposit the fat under the connective tissues thereby reducing the appearance of cellulite.
Regular physical exercise is very important since not only does it help to lose weight but it also tones up the muscles, lets the toxins drain out from your body and helps to get rid of fat. Thirty to forty-five minutes of regular exercise including cardiovascular exercises, strength training and body weight exercises for five days a week is recommended.
Aerobic exercises can burn fat off and hence reduce cellulite. Walking, jogging, and cycling for at least 30 minutes every day is recommended. For cellulite in the thighs, hips and buttocks, step aerobics can be helpful. It is even recommended that climbing stairs can help get rid of cellulite in the thighs, hips and buttocks faster and also tones up the muscles in those areas. Strength training exercises are equally important. Strengthening the muscles of the cellulite affected areas can reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Exercising with dumbbells, elastic bands, etc. and especially squats for toning the thigh muscles are recommended. Strengthening exercises boosts metabolism which when slow is believed to be a cause for cellulite build-up. Beside squats, Pilates exercises are also very popular in strength training.
A healthy diet is very important in preventing cellulite accumulation along with regular exercise. Burning fat all over the body can help in the reduction of cellulite and hence diet should be planned accordingly. Regular calorie intake should not exceed 2000 calories. Starch, sugar should be cut down from your diet and instead a low-carb diet consisting of lean meat, green leafy vegetables and fruits should be incorporated.
Increased Fluid Consumption
Recent studies show that cellulite is not only caused by the accumulation of fat beneath the skin due to bad eating habits, excess weight and fat consumption, but can also occur due to excess water getting trapped in your body. However, this problem of cellulite accumulation due to trapping of excess water can be easily solved by increasing fluid consumption. Low sodium or sodium free fluids such as tea, juices and water are recommended since it will promote frequent urination which will help to flush excess fluid from your body.
It is prescribed that one should drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day. Cellulite can also occur due to heredity. And although home remedies can be effective, mostly the results are temporary. Hence the regimens should be followed continuously in order to improve and maintain your condition.
