Eczema Skin Care
February 27, 2009
With nearly fifteen percent of the population getting affected by eczema at some point of time or the other in their life, cosmetic companies have filled the shelves with various eczema cure products.
In chronic cases of eczema, the first signs of its manifestations may be observed within the first six months of the birth of the child. Apart from the physical symptoms seen on the skin, eczema may also be accompanied by fever or breathing problems.
The symptoms
The initial symptoms are redness, inflammation and itchiness that may develop on coming in contact with certain types of materials. The itchiness is difficult to resist, and constant scratching will spread the infection and cause your skin to break and patch. The development of these cracks in the skin will further aggravate the problem as the disturbing bacteria or compounds will be able to penetrate below the skin. Scratching and rubbing will also lead to the formation of hard dry patches on the skin.
Relieving the symptoms
Finding remedies to treat eczema isn’t as easy as you may think, particularly so because most of the products may be treated by your system as toxins and your problem may just flare-up because of these toxins. With most of the skin care remedies available at the medical stores and the cosmetic shops being chemical based, you will really have a hard time finding a product that is absolutely safe.
You should preferably look for products which are organic or natural, and if they do contain any chemicals be sure that the chemicals are very mild and do not cause reactions on your skin. Organic products enriched with emollients, antioxidants and antibacterial agents offer a lot of relief in the symptoms and faster healing of rashes and inflammation.
Apart from using skin care products, the other most important thing to do is to avoid contact with materials that trigger symptoms. In most cases, wool, synthetic fabric, detergents, hot water, cosmetics and personal care products containing harsh chemicals, pet hair, pollens, dust and fragrances are known to aggravate the symptoms, so you need to guard against all these.
