Easy Tips To Treat Reflux In Infants
If your baby is spitting up frequently, then he is possibly suffering from reflux. Spitting up means that your infant throws up a bit of his feed every now and then, so do not confuse it with vomiting where the thrown up amount is usually large.
However, when you’re in doubt, take your kid to the pediatrician to rule out any serious condition, which may be bothering your infant.
Simple reflux is quite common among infants, and it is absolutely nothing to worry about. And let me assure you, that it is fairly easy to treat reflux in infants. Try the following tips and you will find some instant relief.
•   A small change that can make a lot of difference in your infant’s reflex problem is to give him many small meals instead of large meals. You will be giving your baby the same amount of feed to eat, in a day, but you will have to increase the number of times you feed him. That makes it easier for the infant to digest whatever he has had.
•   If you’ve been mixing your breast feed with formula feed, try to reduce the amount of formula feed that you give your baby. It’s even better if you can keep your infant on breast feed only, for the time being, provided your breast feeding is sufficient.
•   Making your child to burp during and after feeds is very important so as to expel the gas that gets trapped inside their stomach while taking in the feed. If you do not make your infant burp at the time of feeding, the infant will burp later on with vomit.
•   If you’re giving your infant formula feed, make it a little thick so that your child has it slowly. Also you can mix in some rice cereal into the formula feed, to make it easier for your infant to digest the feed.
However, in case none of these tips work, it’s best to talk to your pediatrician so that he can suggest some antacid or some other similar drugs.
