Diaper Rash Treatment

Diaper rash is a common problem with babies in the initial months of their life. And you must know that this is not something that is reserved of only some babies. All babies, at some time, go through diaper rashes since this is their first time being exposed to something that is harmful to the perfect skin that they’re born with.

One simple remedy for this is to keep changing the diapers regularly. This will prevent the skin from being exposed to wetness for too long. This might be difficult if you happen to be working all day and can’t be around the child all day. But if your office happens to have a nursery, it’s good if you take your child along with you.

Another way to prevent the whole thing from happening is to use a rash lotion along with the diaper. This will protect the skin from direct exposure of wetness keeping the skin from getting rashes. Always make sure your baby’s skin is dry before using a new diaper since this will only add onto the rash later.

Babies usually pee right after sleeping. So, once they are asleep, check for the wetness and change the diaper immediately. Go for open cloth diaper when they are napping that allows the fresh air to breath around the skin once in a while. Another reason for rash is wrapping the diaper around the baby too tight, not allowing air to flow through or causing the skin to squeeze. Make sure you don’t tie it up too hard squeezing up the skin with no space for air.

If you are using the same diaper more than once, then the next time you use it, wash it with vinegar that removes the irritants that would have accumulated during wetness. Another thing you can do is to cover the skin with baby powder or lotions before placing the diaper on the baby so that it prevents the direct contact of the skin with  wetness. Even if it can’t hold up forever, it slows down the time it usually takes to cause the rash.
