Color For Your Interiors
Doesn’t it astound you, how brilliant our eyes are to be able to distinguish one color from another, when there exist millions of colors. Colors have an important role to play in our everyday lives, and in particular they are a critical aspect of our home interiors. And that’s the reason we take all the pains to coordinate the walls, the ceiling, furniture, upholstery and drapes based on the color and design.
The color scheme of a room essentially begins from the walls, and only after that we make choices about curtains, upholstery and furniture. The color and pattern choice for all other things is either based on the harmony scheme to blend with the walls or on a contrast scheme to produce a striking effect. So when it comes to interior designing, the walls take the priority and the remaining interior plans can fall into place only after the walls have been painted.
If your idea is to have a bright and vibrant room use primary colors such as the red, blue and yellow or secondary colors such as orange, green and brown as the base colors. On the other hand using neutral colors or pastel shades will give your room a soft and serene look. There are lots of things that need to be considered when deciding about the color for the walls.
The first thing to look at is the size of the room, since lighter shades give small rooms a spacious appearance. The next thing to look at is the lighting scheme, which includes both artificial lighting and natural light, the shades of colors appear different under different lights so that’s one thing you must keep in mind. When you have ample natural light filtering in you can always experiment with dark colors; however that’s not advisable for rooms with small windows and scant natural light.
Colors can also be used to lay emphasis on any particular feature in the room that you wish to highlight, as also colors can be used to disguise something that you wish to hide. Colors can be used in different ways to create different mood settings in different parts of your house. It’s all about using your imagination and experimenting with different color combinations. However you need not waste all your money painting all your walls to try out different color combinations, instead experiment with small patches on a single wall before you finalize the color scheme.
