Clay masks can be prepared not only for the face but for the entire body as well. Clay masks have skin enriching, soothing, softening, nourishing, cleansing, toning and moisturizing properties.
Clay masks can be prepared just as easily at home as it can be at a spa, and you have the added benefit of not having to spend hundreds of dollars for getting the same results. There are special clay masks for the different skin types and to address individual skin problems.
Deep Cleansing Clay Mask for Oily Skin:
To prepare this mask mix one ounce of green clay powder with three tablespoons of distilled water to form a smooth paste. To this add one tablespoon of vegetable glycerin, one drop of geranium essential oil,
two drops of grapefruit essential oil and one drop of juniper essential oil. Apply this mixture in a thin even layer on the face. Once the clay mask shows signs of drying, remove it with cotton balls soaked in lukewarm water.
Soothing Clay Mask for Dry or Sensitive Skin:
To prepare this soothing clay mask, mix together one ounce of red clay with three tablespoons of rose water, one teaspoon of jojoba oil, and two drops each of chamomile and rose essential oils. Mix the above mentioned ingredients vigorously to form a smooth paste.
Apply this clay mask evenly on the face and allow it to sit on the face for about ten minutes or until the mask shows signs of drying out before washing it off with lukewarm water.
Revitalizing Clay Mask for Dull and Tired Skin:
There is no better way to revitalize tired and dull skin than with this particular clay mask recipe. To prepare the mask mix together one ounce of pink clay with three tablespoons of orange flower water.Make a smooth paste.
Next add one tablespoon of vegetable glycerin, one drop of neroli essential oil and two drops each of orange and rose essential oils. Apply this clay mask evenly on the face avoiding the eyes ad the mouth. Allow the mask to become partially dry and then wash it off with lukewarm water.
