We all fear wrinkles, even though they are part of the ageing process. Wrinkles are the result of our skin losing elasticity. The collagen and elastin fibres that provide elasticity to the skin lose its suppleness as we age resulting in sagging of skin.
Whilst there are no sure cut ways for preventing wrinkles, there are certain simple things that we can do in order to prevent the appearance of premature wrinkles and also delay the onset of wrinkling of the skin. Wrinkles appear as a result of many factors. Sun damage can cause wrinkling of skin. Long hours in the sun without protection can cause damage to the skin which can be irreparable.
Skin that is not well moisturised will fall for wrinkles early in the life. People who have dry skin need to be more aware about keeping their skin moisturised for preventing the onset of wrinkles. Diet too plays a great role in keeping the skin well nourished and glowing. Diet rich in fruits, vegetables, fish, whole grains and nuts will ensure that you give the skin all the nourishment to remain supple and free from fine lines.
Tips To Keep Wrinkles At Bay
Use sunscreen at all times
The damage caused by UV rays in the sun has been elaborated many a time. Most of us wear sunscreen only when the sun is out bright and shiny. While it is definitely necessary to wear sunscreen on sunny days, it is also important to wear sunscreen on cloudy as well as snowy days. UV rays can penetrate clouds and snow can reflect Ultra Violet rays.
At all times, it is important to use a sunscreen with adequate SPF. An SPF of 30 can block 97% of UV rays and that is all you need to stay safe from the sun. Another important factor is make sure that you apply enough sunscreen and apply it half an hour before you are in the sun to gain maximum protection for the skin. So next time you are out, make sure that your skin is protected adequately in order to prevent premature ageing, sun spots and sun tanning. All these factors put together create wrinkles on your skin.
Importance of using sunglasses
Most of us consider sun glasses as a fashion accessory. This thinking must be set right as they are not just fashion accessories as you assume. A good sunglass with UV protection helps in preventing eye damage and also offers sufficient protection for the delicate skin around the eyes. Skin around the eyes is very sensitive and easily gets dry due to sun exposure and atmospheric pollutants.
Dry skin around the eyes can lead to dark circles Using sunglasses prevent direct wind from hitting the skin around the eyes. Sunglasses also protect the skin from UV rays. Wearing sunglasses prevent a person from squinting and puckering the forehead, thereby reducing the appearance of wrinkle lines on the forehead. Make sure you choose sunglasses that are fashionable too in order to make a style statement.
Importance of sleeping position
One would wonder what the position of sleep has got to do with development of wrinkles. The truth is that many wrinkle lines in the cheeks of women have got something to do with sleep position. Women who sleep on their side press their cheeks against the pillows. This would result in sleep lines on the cheeks. Sleeping on the sides will also make the skin sag as a result of gravity.
The best position of sleep is to sleep on the back when your skin would be getting a toning effect as you lie down. This is a difficult position for women as most women like to sleep on their sides. Sleeping on the back would help you reduce wrinkle lines in the long run and is worth a try.
Importance of moisturising the skin
Moisturising the skin helps in keeping it well hydrated and nourished. This has to be done every day in order to prevent dryness. The best way to moisturise the skin is to wash the face, pat dry and then apply the moisturiser and again pat dry. This will ensure that the moisturiser is locked in the skin, allowing the skin to stay hydrated for longer time.

Many of us are in the habit of creating habitual expressions that we stick to every day. This could be frowning, creasing your forehead or puckering your eyebrow. Since we use these expressions every day, we start to develop wrinkle lines in these areas.
Though most of these expressions are involuntary, putting an end to them by making a conscious effort will prevent fine wrinkle lines along these areas. You can practice techniques that help you to relax like yoga and meditation. This will prevent stressful situations and avoid straining your muscles and creatingwrinkle lines.
Importance of facial exercise
